Francy Pants

Beginning today, I'll be posting pages about vacations beginning with our two weeks camping in France. The photo above, as well as the following, is of the cafe in Saou (like 'Sue'), the village nearest to the campground, where we ate a delicious lunch the day after our arrival. You should have seen it when the lights were lit. The fountain in the foreground sprang water from the ground which was served directly to cafe patrons. Take the richness of that image and apply it to the entire region and you get a pretty good picture of our holiday.

Well, at least one of us looks like we're enjoying the day.

The most delicious spring water!

A cool handmade bread holder, had a slot for holding knife for spreading with cheese. Dogs at rest while they await departure.

The little bakery near the cafe where Nico picked up bread every morning. Breakfast rolls and stick bread.

Handmade garage door with plaque and the church nearby the cafe. Below, more scenes from the village.

My favorite blue shutters.

Nice planters, the path 'home', where we let the boys get cooled off and my kinda garden.

Above, hand decorated mailboxes seem to be the thing to do in this town. Quite some artists here as well.

A canal where we (again) let the boys get cooled off and the community garden where (more than once) Nico snagged handfuls of white figs.

And there's more where this came from. Next, the local brewery, the fruit we picked, the campsite and scenery from the tent, and other places we visited for viewing and eating.

  1. Rhonda it looks like you had such a beautiful place to be in. LOVE the pix of the wild flowers with the mountains in the background. Can't wait to see the rest of the trip! P.S. - were you tired in that one pix? I can understand that, there is a pix of me looking completely pissed off my first day in Austria, even though I THOUGHT I was smiling… ;)

  2. It is SO good to hear from you again! I have missed you. Looking forward to more of your adventures. That bakery sounds like a wonderful idea. I can almost smell it. I've never seen anything like the nifty bread-holder (Ryan's could use one) Wonder if we could have neat mailboxes like that in Crab Orchard. Blue shutters look so Cool! Waiting for next episode..
    Love & Prayers Nancy
