Still jetlagging, still no power.

Monday, May 11. Didn’t exactly get a good nights’ sleep – woke up at 3:00 a.m. to go to the bathroom then couldn’t go back to sleep. By the time I got out of bed again, my back was paining me. (This would prove to be a brief occurance, thank goodness.)

Dad and mom got up early to run generator at both houses. I stayed home to work on my diary and had what would become my standard breakfast: cereal with strawberries, coffee and juice. Afterwards, I walked to Gram’s for a quick visit with, of course, my Nordic sticks.

Still during morning hours, Mom and I took a longer walk on the frontage road less than a mile from our house. It was a good workout and a fun way to visit. (People have since said they’ve seen us walking there. “Hey, you can always stop and join us.”)
When we got home, Dad had brought back some fresh strawberries from a roadside stand in town. They were soon crushed and prepped for dessert eating.

At home again, I had my first at-home fitness session. I have tried to include as much as possible the training of the same muscles: chest, abs, hips, shoulders and back with triceps thrown while I’m at it. Mom joined me off an on.

Visited with my old pal Melody as she was worked in her grandmother’s yard. Melody and I used to play together when she would visit her grandparents who were our in between neighbors. After that, I walked on to Gram’s and visited with her for a little while. She gave me a chunk of cranberry nut bread to eat for breakfast. Yum. (Sorry, didn't get a picture of that.)

Melody and Frieda, her Gram.

Came home and mom prepped dinner (Dad-grilled steak, baked potatoes, slaw, with strawberries for dessert). Near the end of our meal, Mom said she had found something in my old room and wanted to ask me if it was mine. Out of the china closet came a mug that I had bought last summer but never been able to give her (because I’d had a big brain fart and had forgotten to tell her about it). So, I hurried to the little closet and found a small gift bag and re-presented the mug I bought for her in the Smokies last summer. After nine months, she’s now using it daily.

After dinner, I sat around with Mom and Gram for the first day of planning the “Cousins Tea”. More about that in a later issue.

Tomorrow
I have some time free in my schedule so I plan to make as consolidated a view as possible of the days that followed Monday. I gotta catch my blog up with myself. There's too much good stuff going on in the here and now!

  1. Sounds like you're having a lot of fun even without power. I'm loving the photos of the countryside-- reminds me of my own grandma's house. I thought your friendship with Melody was interesting, as I had the same type of friend at my grandma's house-- she lived across the street. Keep on having fun, and don't worry too much about your blog. We know you're out living your life :)
