Vrijdag. Zing!

And what a Friday it has been. Shoes, swimming, chakras and sunshine.

Shoes
First things first. Finding the right pair of shoes has never seemed so difficult. It's like the search that never ends and when you die you find out there never were any shoes. It was only about the search. Anyway, I again tried on a number of shoes including sandals. And even though I liked one pair more than the others, I couldn't bring myself to pay the 154euro price tag. In the end, I took home the plain-Jane pair I picked out a couple weeks ago (see photo). Practical, comfortable, black with laces.

I think the main problem for me is that all the styles designed for younger people don't fit and the ones that fit are just too old lady for me. I'll find my medium yet. I am convinced. I still have that other shoe store to try out. Plus, who knows. I'll be home soon where prices are half what I'd pay here. Mom and friends of mom: got any ideas where I can buy some stylish orthopedic shoes?

Chakras
I made another kinship connection after my meditation class today and I'm still excited about having found this new old friend.

After class, I caught the teacher's attention and admitted that I already knew a lot about this stuff (just as Steph said) and, though I was definitely getting something out of the class, could she help me find more advanced somewhere. She said she felt a real kinship in me and was more than sympathetic to my story. So, besides continuing the conversation at a later date, she's going to bring me a couple DVDs of Eckhart Tolle that she thinks I would benefit from. Already being familiar with him, I said, "bring it on, sista!". Zing!

Swimming
I was poolside by 9 a.m. What a difference a day makes! All my favorite sports people were there and only 2-3 people were in the pool at any given moment. I got one-on-one coaching on my 'crawl' technique and I even got to stay longer than the alloted 1/2 hour! I am so happy, thrilled and grateful for that today. Zing!

Sunshine
It was a bea-utiful morning. I was up by 6:30 and in the park with Hazel by 7:45. While making breakie, I opened the kitchen door to soak up the bird songs. It continued into the park with the amazing vocals of the little 'hedge muss'. I sat, watched and listened to this tiny creature for 20 trills or more (maybe this is where the chakra vibrating actually began today...). Nico sends his best with this photo of the 'manderijn duck' who's been floating around in our park lake with his lady friend for over a week.

Now, I'm off to Nico's to grill again and watch the sun go down over the ring road. And I thought yesterday was a good day! Sorry for all the exclamation points. I just can't help myself!

Thanks for staying in touch and have a great holiday weekend. For those celebrating Easter, I wish you a pleasant sunrise and remembrance. For those who are just in it for the chocolate bunnies and jelly beans (thanks for the reminder, Carolyn), be grateful for what you're about to consume. Love and peace out!

  3. Quacking up!!!! LOL!!!! I totally didn't expect it, Skiela, which made it even funnier!

The duck photos are exquisite. (both the ducks themselves and the photos taken of them, that is).

I'm ever on the eternal shoe search, myself, so I can certainly understand your frustration. I wonder if you can find something at Abba Dabba's once you get back to Atlanta. They have sturdy, well-made supportive shoes. Maybe they have orthopedic-friendly shoes as well?
