Good news, now on to the other limb

September 24

Another birthday wish - this time to my Grandpa. Happy birthday, Gramps. See you in the funny papers ;)

The arm
Had great message from my ergo therapist today - all signs point to my arm making a complete recovery. "You should get back all normal functioning." This may come as no surprise to you given the progress you've seen on this page but, for me, it was thrilling to hear these words.

As the nurses have seen my arm come back to life, they are thrilled for me but quick to tell me how lucky I am. They have seen so many people who are not able to get back the use of their hand. I hope their words always stay with me - be grateful, so many are not so able.

The leg
Walking in the old hiking boots went better today. She even had me try to learn walking on steps, using my right leg to push off. That was scary but I was able to make a few good steps. She's also come by to help me with the night time pillow arrangement situation. Turns out I had too many pillows and could be using them more affectively. It was great to get some advice to try out. My arm has been doing ok - I used to have pain in my shoulder - but my foot is really stiff in the morning, my knee turning inward when I stand. It takes a bit of warming up in the morning before I can get my leg functioning "properly". Hopefully the new pillow arrangement will fix this.

Other stuff
The sun is shining now. I will take a quick rest then I'm off to enjoy. The afternoon is therapy free, giving me time to read, catch up on sun bathing and maybe try my new internet connection in my room.

Thanks to all for your wonderful, supportive and encouraging comments you leave for me. I'm amazed at my fortune in friends and I'll always have this time to remind me of it.

Love and peace...
