From Blixembosch

September 22

Had a good Saturday night and Sunday. Saturday night, we sat and watched a movie on TV and it felt almost normal (except I was laying in a hospital bed and Nico was on the couch). Sleep was still somewhat evasive but it was nice going to sleep and waking up to the sniff sniff of the dogs.

Sunday we walked the dogs a couple times, had visitors in the afternoon and for lunch were able to eat more palatable food - quiche with corn on the cob and half an avacado. For dinner we ordered take-out pizza. Both were fantastic.

I think going home on weekends will be the nice treat for me at the end of the week and will only get better as Nico and I get used to the new situation that neither of us ever expected.

Physical therapy today was ok. I brought in a pair of hiking boots (from 1991) and that will take a bit of adjusting to. I have been using a lightweight pair of running shoes but they don't give any ankle support for the difficult task of walking. The therapist thought the boots made it easier for me but I wasn't as convinced. We'll have to see how it goes.

During ergotherapy today, I took yet another test. I found out that the reason why I keep being given tests versus therapy is because I keep doing so well on every test, they must keep giving me more and more advanced ones to determine what the prognosis will be for recovery. The test today went really well - it was a test with timed activities. I only fell short on three of probably 40 actions. A score of 53 out of 56 - 56 being a score for a normal person!

I also still take all dining events as theraputic opportunities as well. I'll be back to my normal eating habits before you know it (if I can't improve what I can at least control how I eat it).

  1. Rhonda, it sounds like you're doing so well. And I know it was worth more than any therapy to be at home with Hazel and Nico...and good food!
