From Blixembosch

Saturday, September 20

Happy Birthday to Stephbo! Hope you do lots of things naughty and nice today.

Since there's no official therapy on weekends, I took it upon myself to make my own exercises for today - the first one was to take a shower completely by myself. I only needed help putting on the thrombosis stocking. I sent a few of you an sms this morning telling you that I was able to lift my arm over my head. I was also able to use a knife with my right hand to cut meatballs during lunch. Last night, I ate a complete bowl of pudding with a spoon without spilling a drop.

My right arm knows it can do more now so it wants to participate in everything - even typing this entry. I start to type with only my left and I can hear it huffing "That's my job too!" She makes lots of mistakes but the rest of us like her fighting spirit so we'll keep her on.

Next week, I really want to work on getting my leg going. It also wants to work now that it can see the hand coming along so well. I know it will get a chance.

I'm glad that so many people are with me along the road of my progress - I read all of the comments and it keeps me typing to you. Andreas said that people who've been through this come out stronger. I already know this is true for me. I didn't know Life was preparing me for this moment but somehow I was ready.

Think... foot, foot, foot.

  2. Rhonda, SO good to see your progress. Just talked to your mom and she was really encouraged. God bless you. Remember the world is really a very small place, so you're really not very far away. Love, Gary & Sharon

  6. Thanks for the birthday wishes! I had a day of riding in the car to get back home, but we managed to celebrate before we left. I'm so glad to hear that you're improving by leaps and bounds and that soon, your leg will get a piece of the action as well!
