Growing balcony

We added some big bunches of poppies I bought for 1euro each, replaced flowers in the planter and added some mint.

Nico planted a Black-eyed Susan vine for me when I was on holiday. He knows this is a favorite of my mom and me.

My hydrangea is growing well and morning glories are winding everywhere though no blooms yet.

I've harvested (and partaken of) a few beans but no tomatoes yet. Only some blooms beginning to form.

Herbs from the nursery - chives, parsley and thyme. Those are mom's marigolds in between.

A spicy pepper plant from Nico and some rucola about 30 days from harvest time.

The hanging strawberry plant and sweet pepper plant Nico planted for me while I was gone. He also planted an olive tree and a camellia.

We finally got rid of my big green table and replaced it with this storage box (originally from Ikea, we snagged it for 10euros). Nico added the wheels. Cilantro (from coriander seeds) is coming up in the little white pot. It's great in salsa or on Mexican food in general. And, "thanks Steph" for the fun new t-shirt. He loved the M&Ms, too! He got the rotating fan for me from a neighbor who was getting rid of it. Cool, free stuff!

Last but not least, the little shelf (with drawer) Nico built and put on my balcony. It was there when I got back from holiday. Handsome and handy (Nico, not the shelf)!

  1. So Nico has gone up SEVERAL notches in my eyes (not that he wasn't already way up there anyway)--- he was such a busy little bee while you were gone!!! And so sweet to make sure he planted something to help remind you of your mom. He could definitely teach Michael a thing or two. Glad you got the package and that the t-shirt fit. Your garden is AMAZING!!!! Who knew you could do so much with such a small space?!?! BTW-- I've secured a guitar from a friend for the wedding in case you're up to it by then. Love you bunches and glad to see a new post!

  2. BEAUTIFUL! Sigh. I love spring. And the energy of people willing to really dig in (heh) and get a garden done.
