Beginning with fysio, the day kicked off well (that almost sounds like a pun). I learned more about when the calf muscle actually goes to work during walking - which is why it is going to be a nice challenge for me. Some exercises outside of walking I can do are: while using a table to keep my balance, 1) stand on my toes and, 2) standing perpendicular to the table, push off with my right foot/leg to shift full weight to my left foot.
Painting was fun, as usual, but for an unusual reason: one of my painting colleagues was getting a lesson in color theory via paint mixing. Overhearing the lesson, I had the notion that I was witnessing a magical portion of this 76 year-old man's life journey. I suppose that's because I am on a journey of self-discovery and every new discovery gets me closer to understanding the wonderful ways of the Universe. So, actually, I was projecting my own feelings about the sense of wonder I feel when I learn something that is accessible to all yet magical when realized.
I had a bite of sandwich then moseyed on over to fitness again where I rowed (this time including the use of my calf muscles) for 20 minutes. This is my longest time yet rowing and, I must say, it was an extremely satisfying 20 minutes. Got my heart rate up to 148, 15 points above my target range. Go calves and toes!
Archery without pre-meditation (he he) or coaching or Riem the grouch is hands-down the winner for best shot production. It was just me and the intern, shooting well and not competing with each other. Casual, fun. That's the way, uh huh uh huh, I like it, uh huh uh huh.
Post Blixembosch
After work, I came home to a happy pooch. I've gotten into the habit of first going out on the balcony to check sitting conditions. Today was not super sittable due to usual afternoon direct sun. However, I couldn't pass up the chance to put another coat on the bottom side of the chair.
Afterwards, for a half hour or so, I munched on popcorn and played the guitar along with my O Sister album. A fun way to pass the time and to get my rhythm hand going again. More trio singing practice on Friday, as well, so also good warm up for that.
After which I got a call from Nico telling me that an old colleague of his had a contact for some cheap garden plants. Cheap or not, it was worth the trip to the outskirts of Eindhoven to see this backyard nursery kept by a lovely farmer with his old-man, too-small-for-his-head, straw-weave hat alongside his cock-a-doodle-dooing-and-cooing roosters. His eyes reminded me of my grandpa, his garden, of home.
I got only a couple of small plants that I quickly rooted in some pots upon arriving home. Nested and happy, I then set off to fix a quick pasta dinner, fed Hazel too and headed out to walk him. It was late but we ran into a lot of our park pals which is always a bonus (though I usually miss 90 percent of what's said).
Tomorrow, cleaning lady, market day maybe, chair finishing up, dishes, then rest and relaxation. Good times.

No, I don't know the how, when, where or what of work details, Shiela girl. And I don't care to know until the time comes to make it so. Ah, the luxury of letting go and letting you know who make it so.
MY GOODNESS! You are one busy Lady. You can DO more than I can even think about. Oh! to be young again. Sound like you had a good day. Love & Prayers Dale & Nancy
ReplyDeleteAny day in the sun and with doggie pals is a good day to me!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear the work situation is not a stressor. Indeed, let go and let "you know who" do the rest :) I love that things are going well… wish I was there with you guys! I bet it is gorgeous right now.
ReplyDeleteLove,

I was touched by your comment about the painting.
