One last push

We made one last big push yesterday and got all the big items on the list finished - a place to sleep, food to eat, a place to hang my clothes and also wash them. We have only have to due a bit more gluing to wrap these items up to have a place that's finally livable on a daily basis.

There are still loads of boxes sitting around and things in bags just waiting to find a home of their own. Today, we'll be unpacking and storing these boxes and bags depending upon their contents.

Once everything is in place and I feel like having company over, I'll have Nico shoot some pictures to share.

Too much stuff
One thing I was reminded of yesterday is that I have entirely too much stuff. Though I've already pegged a few items to be taken away, I know there are boxes of stuff that I need to think about purging again. At the end of the day today, I'll know a bit more how many of these boxes exist.

Scootering around
Last week, I did a make believe test with orange cones to see how it would be to drive a scootmobile into the storage room. Remember that scene in Austin Powers in which he was driving that cart back and forth between two walls? That was me.

So, I'll be taking measurements of the storage area and testing with cones with these more accurate sizes again tomorrow. This will help determine what size scootmobile will be the least frustrating for me to drive in and out.

So far so good
The new shoes and brace were test-driven, also, last Thursday. It was a bit shocking to see the size of them and the brace construction. The shoes are 1/2 to a whole size bigger than what actually fits. It had to be larger to fit the size of the brace.

You can see my type of shoes at this link. The colors are not as nice in the photo as they are in reality. They're lovely shades of powder blue and forest brown. Not too bad in how they look but I feel like a clown sometimes when I look down.

Getting used to how they feel takes time but it's starting to be less painful on the soles of my feet. The shoe inserts are pretty hard and the brace is really stiff. But I can feel more balance when I walk now. I look forward to trying them while on the treadmill this week.

Sick and tired
You may remember that in my last entry I mentioned the beginnings of a cold/flu. I did get this stress-induced flu and was in bed Sunday night through Tuesday. I was out walking on Wednesday and today, finally feel a bit more myself. I think I've just had to much on my mind combined with trying to get a handle on everything (which is impossible). But I'm at the start of a new week now. New week, new opportunity to let go and let God, right?

We're off to start working again. Thanks for the recent emails and also for the supportive comments last week. Talk again soon.

  2. Rhonda, We know about stuff because we haven't in over 45 years. Just hang in there all those bags & boxes will get put away at some point. Rome wasn't built in a day. Hope you are feeling stronger now, with your new shoes & braces. Love & prayers Dale & Nancy

  3. Glad to hear you're feeling better! You have to be careful with those scooters-- they can get away from you in a heartbeat. I had a really cool dream about your place a few nights ago-- the grass was strikingly green (like it is in Ireland), and your living room had one entire wall which was a plate-glass window and jutted out over some sort of body of water, looking directly out to a HUGE icy blue glacier. I know it's not like that in real life, but the dream apartment was REALLY cool!!!
    Love ya!
