In da house!

Finally, friends and neighbors, I'm home. Moved in. Enjoying my new space and remembering the joys of living alone. Yes, I still have a few things left to put into the storage room downstairs (which, it turns out, is plenty big to hold all my non-essentials) but with time to read my Sun magazine over a cup of cappuccino again, I feel I'm oh so much closer to getting the good parts of my old life back.

Internet delays
To those of you who've been checking my blog for an update, I apologize for not getting my post up sooner. I only got my internet working Friday and my wireless hooked up late last night.

But now I'm sittin' pretty on my new Ikea couch working like a dog to keep Hazel off of my new rug. My old rug was never off limits (because it was only $10 at the Good Will). You can see how this might be a problem.

Scooter hopes

We dropped by a mobility store last week and got a slightly better quote on renting a scoot mobile plus what feels like more personal, customer service. The other shop is more well publicized by places like Blixembosch and used to being #1 for disabled audiences. The shop we stopped at is the little guy who will work hard to get a piece of the pie. For instance, they did something I've never seen a Dutch winkel do - stay open after closing hour just to talk to a potential customer. Being from the US, I felt right at home. I figure 20euros less and this customer service is promising. More later.

Therapy continues
Therapy was great last week. Archery is finally becoming fun. I'm now searching for where to focus my eyes when aiming at the target (i.e. do I look at the target or the arrow?). And shooting is a little like using the dots on the floor when bowling. If you shoot a little to the left, then aim right.

More later... gotta catch my cab!

  1. We are so happy to hear you are getting things back to some sort of normal. This was worth the wait. Hope the scooter works for you. I'm sure you will be a very good archerist (is that a word) Love & prayers Nancy & Dale.

  2. Aim at the bull's eye ;-) It's like staring at the license plate on the car in front to keep going straight.

Good to hear you're all settled in back home!!!

  4. I'm so glad to finally hear an update from you! I'm glad you're finally able to settle in and feel a sense of normalcy again. Sounds like the smaller, homier shop is the way to go. I always love to support small businesses like that. We missed you on the ski trip-- I had to take over map lady duties this year. Skiela won the crash pin by having a spectacular face plant yard sale crash which apparently left both of her skis side by side as if there were an invisible skier in them. I merely scraped skin off my nose from my faceplant and gave myself whiplash falling on the ice walking to the shuttle. :( Check out our facebook pages for all the pix!

  5. Yes it was spectacular! But fortunately for me my right elbow took the brunt of the mtn.s fury - or I would have a black eye (good times!) I FINALLY won the crash pin (yesssssssss!)

Steph was a very good map lady btw - it would have been nice if could have read the signs better as I was skiing the runs ;) but you know how that can go.

I loved archery R. - it is very zen-like in practice. Deep slow breath in before you draw back...

Can't wait to see ya soon!
