Snow has been on the ground here now for over a week. Maybe it's been two weeks already. I've adapted and, as usual, have so much to be grateful for: thick socks, my Grandpa's old work coat to warm my legs, a scootmobiel that is snow- and ice-proof, city living which means I can get wherever I need to be without going far from my front door and a bird's eye view of this snow blanketed world.
Sleds: not just for snow days.
One thing I've enjoyed watching the daily use of sleds to transport kids to and from school. I've seen parents pulling kids behind them as they walk, as well as one and two sleds behind their bike. Even after being here for over three years, the Dutch can still pleasantly surprise me.
Haven't seen any 4-wheelers at all, which is also surprising now that I think about it. Still, I see people riding bikes and walking. I've tried my 3-wheel bike a couple of times but after having been assisted up a hill with wheels spinning on ice, I decided to just stick with my trusty scoot. Good choice. I do have a bit of trouble keeping the battery charged but, as I'm sticking with my trusty Nico, that's really no issue either.
Birthdays
My Grandma Geneva turns 94 tomorrow. My mom already threw a surprise birthday lunch with some lady relatives for her yesterday at O'Charley's (Gram's the one with the corsage). Apparently they partied into the night and ended with a breakfast the next morning. Love you, Gram.
Birthday shout-outs also go to the Weber girls, Sidney and Madison. And also to my great friend, Kay Ohanessian. I guess it's a ladies month, at least for the first half.
Abundant blessings on you all!
Hi Rhonda, happy b-day for your grandmother !

Happy belated birthday to Grandma!! Snow is so much fun, especially when the sidewalks and roads are clear and you can go, "crunch, crunch, crunch" across the snowy ground. :)
ReplyDeleteLove it - rock on ladies! :)
