Christmas and snow

Over the past week, we had a beautiful, winter wonderland. It is said that in the coming days, it will return with force, colder temperatures and again snow. These are days to get things done indoors and my list is growing. A few more days of holiday left to spend time in peace and silence.

Thanks again to Nico for the great photos.

One of Nico's indoor projects has been construction of wooden things. This one is a much appreciated extra surface made using pieces of his former dining table. The dining table was replaced by a smaller, circular coffee table top upon which he added longer legs which, until recently, were part of his four-poster bed, which he also had made. Finally, he's been working on gathering more table tops of solid wood to build a taller cabinet to replace his current TV cabinet. Though, his gardening work has stood still, he certainly hasn't. In fact, I don't think "being still" is even in his list of abilities.

Finally, Christmas Day at the Bruins house. Posing for photos and eating, what the Dutch call, "gourmet". It was yum and fun was had by all. In the first photo, perhaps you can see a bit of the cane I worked on, wrapping colored string around it. It is quite festive and I look forward to using it all winter.

What you don't see is the opening of presents we received from my family, friends and Nico's parents. Nico and I weren't the only ones having fun that day - Hazel really dug into each scrap of paper after every pack was opened. To our surprise, sometimes he still acts like a puppy.

Cheese fondue and fireworks are in our near future. How about you? Great New Year's Eve plans? I won't be with friends, just Nico. For now, it seems celebrating the coming of a New Year in that way is part of my past. There is something to be said for a quiet entry for a peaceful year to come, as well.
