Friday, what's being called an inland hurricane blew through the region in which my parents live. Well, as you can imagine, it toppled thousands of trees which then took as many power lines with it. So, my folks have been running a generator between their house and Gram's since Saturday, as well as picking up branches, discarded roofing and taking photos of damage for insurance purposes. My parent's place was pretty much untouched. The roof of Gram's house and barn had the wind damage but not bad.
So, I have only had pockets of time to charge my laptop. And, because of unforeseen technical difficulties (not natural ones), I can't yet connect my laptop to the internet here. Therefore, no pictures yet recounting the glory of the Japanese-style birthday love-in nor the hanging of painting in bibliotheek.
But I am here safe and sound and recovering nicely from over 20 hours of traveling on Saturday. Illinois spring weather is perfect and just what I had in mind. It's been beautiful so far, cool breezes and sunny skies.
Well, time to sign off. Generator's got to go to Gram's now (don't want to let those cookies ruin!).
More hopefully tomorrow!
Hey Rhonda!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you weathered the trip and the storm! Thanks for letting us know you're ok, and good luck to your friends and family in recovering from the storm!
Wow - so sorry to hear you had yucky weather :( Very cool that you are spending time with friends and family in the Illinois. Enjoy every second!

What a welcome back to the states. Hope everything/everyone has recovered. Sounds like quite a clean up -- think of it as therapy. Cannot wait to see you in Sept at the beach.
