The weekend plus

Thought you might be interested in seeing what my orthesis looks like. My Nordic walkers are still the only shoes I use!

Saturday

Nothing much happenin' on Saturday but I did finally get around to ordering a new mattress for my bed as I've been waking with a sore back and neck. I had to special order it to fit my US sized frame. Also, Nico and I traded pillows as he wanted more thick ones and I wanted formed but thinner ones. We'll see in a couple weeks when the mattress arrived if the new combination makes any difference.

Sunday
It was another cold overcast day so we just stuck it out indoors until evening. As Nico is really into photography, he's always looking at camera bodies and lenses. He recently bought a used 1000mm lens. It can capture the craters on the moon. So, what did he do Sunday night but go chasing the moon. I stayed in and finished my blog, which you might have noticed.

Monday therapy, a short day
I was up at 6:30 which was a bit difficult since our time changed this weekend. It definitely took its toll on me today - thus, the short day.

Of course, the first session of the day was duurbelasting and after one hour of working on the computer, my eyes hurt from tiredness. So, I took a break in which I walked around, did some stitching, typed some song lyrics and eat all my day's alloted snacks. But no matter what I did, my body cried out only for a nap.

So, instead of sticking it out to do fitness after fysio and ergo, as I normally would, I called the cab and left before 3 o'clock. And, because it was a beautiful sunny day, I was able to sit on the deck until we walked the dogs at 5:30.

I wanted another video of my Nordic walking as a comparison with the one shot over a month ago. So I had Nico shoot the following. There's a small difference in the speed and the ease of movement but definitely more work to do!

  1. O.k. first of all - cool pix of your orthesis, but it is a bit like you vaporized *POOF* :)

I want to see Nico's moon pix! I bet they are really wonderful.

So I am curious - what kind of work are you doing on the computer? Design related?

I just cannot believe how much progress you have made. You are so much more fluid… looks like you are getting really strong and confident too. Does it help having the poles as well?

Go on wid your bad self girly girl!

    Love,
    S

  3. Hey Rhonda-

I just love it when you post video of yourself. It makes me feel like I'm there. And I love even more that I know exactly where you're walking in your videos now-- I recognized the off-leash dog park-- woo hoo!

I'm glad you were able to set limits for yourself and take care of yourself when you needed it.

    Miss you!
