One thing I forgot to mention yesterday was the jaunt in the woods we took. Nico thought we needed a break after working so hard on the apartment Sunday and he was right. Before coming to pick me up, he had loaded my chair, extra blankets and the boys in the bus. Exactly what I needed. How did he know? So, he pushed me through the snow and took some pictures of the boys and me.
And the temperature is really, really low! It was -18 Celsius last night and will get down there again tonight (Nico says this is below zero in Fahrenheit). He also says this is the first real wintery winter they've had in ages, the first time the Dutch have been able to have races on the ice in Holland in 12 years whereas it used to be every year.
Blixembosch again
Today and yesterday, I had treatment. Swimming was nice as usual this morning. Fysio was taxing - Titia had me walk on the treadmill. In the end, I surpassed my previous records and walked almost one kilometer and 23 minutes. The average speed was 2.3 k/hr.
I'm walking everywhere at Blixembosch now, no more wheelchair. Just little ol' me and my cane. I have to leave a little earlier now for each of my appointments and by the time I get home, I really don't want to fix dinner (but I do). Speaking of which, we had knockwurst with sourkrout and mustard tonight.
I almost forgot to mention I had archery and loopgroep again today. Archery went easier than last week, of course, and I hit the target more often than not and was able to shoot more arrows than before. And, bonus, I actually enjoyed myself a little. Loopgroep was difficult as before but I'm realizing that learning to be relaxed when walking will help because when I walk with tension, my foot turns inward which makes it difficult to do anything.
I talked to the doctor about the meditation group. She's going to look into it for me and get back to me. Fingers crossed.
I have Wednesday off so maybe will be working on the apartment again. Something to look forward to, perhaps.
Enjoy the photos
Besides the wintery ones, I also added some of the couch assembling. I also threw in a photo of the the Boeren Bond (which means Framer's Union). It made me recall fondly our Rural King so I made Nico stop for a quick look see. See you next time!

Nico is such a fantastic photographer!! I love the wall color you've chosen for your place. Can't wait to see it all in person. I'm not sure how I feel about it being so cold and all-- ice races sound fun, but below zero does not. :( I'm glad you're getting outside and enjoying the snow!
ReplyDeleteI second Steph's comment - WOW. He is really talented. I cannot WAIT for the cold - bring it! I'll go outside w/you ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous pictures! And what a sweet guy you've got there. Taking you for an outing and remembering everything you will need. That's someone special.
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy reading your blog and hearing how things are going. It is wonderful to hear the improvement each day. How exciting to see how much more you are able to do now than just a few weeks ago.
We DID miss you on New Year's. There was definitely a hole.
Much Love,
KH
