It's been an uneventful last day here at Blixembosch - typical swimming, fitness and ergo - but special nonetheless. My friend, Kristal, kept reminding me with, "our last lunch," "your last morning at swimming," " your last afternoon in the activity room." She's as sentimental as they come. Thank goodness for people like her.
All my canvas and reusable bags have gone to good use today carrying everything home. Books, cards from the bulletin board, dvds, 6 pairs of shoes, too many toiletries and food. Somehow, I require all of these things - some things were here just in case (like the shoes).
Home is where the new couch is
I'm ok with going home though it will be weeks until my apartment is really livable. I pray that by the end of next week, most of the painting is done and the livingroom is finished (minus the couch that is on order).
I ended up getting the red/orange couch instead of turquoise. In the end, turquoise seemed to serious and autumnal. So, the walls in the livingroom are green (Granny green, to be exact). Brave colors throughout the house for me - deep red, granny green, sun yellow, tropical blue - it's fun to be brave with color on a grand scale sometimes. And who cares? It's only temporary housing anyway. I'll probably learn something anyway.
Bezoekers...
means visitors in Dutch and it seems I'll be having one or two come February. My pal Skiela confirmed today that she'll be flying over to Holland see her pal. And she will probably be bringing Stephbo. It will be great to have such great friends from home to love on me for a few days. And some peops to break in the couch.
Anyone else feel like dropping in for a few days in '09 let me know.
Christmas in Holland
It's not exactly how I thought it would be but spending Christmas and New Year's Eve with Nico will still be nice, I'm sure. I'll be making my favorite chicken and dumplings for supper on Christmas day and as grand an American breakfast as I can muster. Since Nico was in the U.S. with me this summer, he now knows what a real American breakfast is like. Lots of meats and eggs. Too bad I can't get breakfast sausage links here.
Gotta go
Nico is here ready to take me home so I gotta wrap this up. Have a great weekend and I'll be checking in again next week. Love to all and keep in touch!
So glad that you are going home even if it is not quite ready yet. We plan to go to Marion on the 27th to visit Geneva and your mom and dad. I know that you miss them and they miss you. Tell Nico that we are so grateful for him and his family taking care of you. Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!
